Imperial presence at the 2019 Beaumont St Carnivale

You could be forgiven for thinking you’d arrived at Dagobah, considering the stifling swamp-like humidity in Hamilton last Sunday, where our Imperial forces arrived to help support the local community for the 2019 Beaumont St Carnivale.

Beaumont Street was closed off to traffic, allowing for a large variety of local stall holders to setup shop, while the existing shop-fronts opened to welcome a multicultural community to celebrate the local Hamilton identity, a suburb just west of Newcastle CBD.

The 501st Legion’s Hunter Hornet Squad were joined by The Hunter Heroes, a comic book superhero cosplay group.

This past weekend our troops had the privilege to be apart of the 2019 Beaumont Street Carnivale in Newcastle NSW. The troops enjoyed getting photos with the community and marching in the parade. Special thanks to Will TC 21487 for the video. #501stlegion #southerncrossgarrison

After helping members of the local business chambers, MPs and Councillors open the event, the troopers delivered a presentation describing the 501st Legion, discussing their costumes and how to join the group. The remainder of the day was spent posing for photos to many excited fans (of all ages), before joining a local band, the superheroes and The Saurus Squad (inflatable dinosaurs) in a parade down the main street.

Despite the formidable weather, all the troopers had an incredible day and are looking forward to bigger Carnivale in 2020.
